François Xavier Douin joins HSBC Asset Management

HSBC Asset Management has recruited François Xavier Douin to head its institutional business in the Nordics and Ali Karmali as head of its institutional business for the Middle East and Africa. Both will report to Maria Ryan, head of institutional business UK, Nordics, Middle East and Africa.

François Xavier Douin was for a long time responsible for the institutional business in the Nordic region at J.P. Morgan Asset Management but left the firm early last year. In an interview with FBNW at the time he said: "I think you have to be very committed to the region and build up a network. The Nordics include a very heterogenous set of clients: in different countries, big and small, those that love outsourcing and those that hate outsourcing etc. Acquiring that knowledge takes years and years.”

“I am delighted to welcome Francois Xavier and Ali to the team. The Nordics and Middle East are key markets for our long-term growth strategy given the very strong alignment of our investment capabilities and client needs,” Maria Ryan says and continues: “Their combined depth of experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve our business in both regions.”
